The Parliament is expected to examine the lifting of immunity for the leader of the Plefsi Eleftherias party, Zoe Konstantopoulou, following a request from judicial authorities.
Specifically, a case file has been submitted to the parliament concerning an incident in which Ms. Konstantopoulou is implicated. The charges relate to repeated disruptions of judicial proceedings and improper influence on judicial officials. The incident occurred during a recent trial held at the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Volos.
According to reports, the alleged actions by Ms. Konstantopoulou include calling the police from her mobile phone during the session, aiming to involve law enforcement against the presiding judge and prosecutor. She is also reported to have removed a microphone from the bench and interfered with the computer used by the court during the trial.
Judicial authorities have requested the lifting of her immunity to proceed with the necessary legal procedures. Reportedly, Ms. Konstantopoulou has been summoned to provide explanations to the Ethics Committee next Friday, November 29, and the case is expected to be referred to the Plenary for a vote within the next 15 days.
