Another organ donation took place at the Hospital in Chania, Crete. Relatives of a 45-year-old woman in an irreversible condition decided to give life.
“An unfortunate fellow citizen, who was in an irreversible condition, hospitalized, finally her relatives decided to make the magnificent act, with the greatness of soul and donate life to other people,” said the head of the hospital of Chania, Giorgios Beas.
Immediately after the decision the relatives informed the Transplant Center and set up the operation to receive the organs of the 45-year-old woman.
“After midnight yesterday, 27th of the month, teams from the Onassis and Laiko Hospital from Athens, went to Chania, at the General Hospital and received the organs. The heart was taken by the Onassisio and the People’s Hospital took the kidneys and liver,” said Mr. Beas.
Donation from a 55-year-old man
It is a gift of life from the unfortunate 45-year-old woman that follows a donation made a few days ago by a 55-year-old patient who was hospitalized in an irreversible condition.
“In that case too, the relatives proceeded to the magnificent act, that of organ donation, namely the liver, which was received by a special team for Palermo, Italy,” said George Beas, who thanked the relatives for their decision, as well as the doctors, of the ICU for the titanic battle, as he said, that they gave to keep them alive, the surgeons as well as the surgeons of other hospitals in Greece and abroad “and of course the National Transplantation Organization for the successful transfer operation and its coordination.”
The message to all citizens who want to send the governor of the hospital of Chania Agios Georgios is to become aware of the awareness of Organ Donation “which is an act of life, for greatness of soul, for the ultimate gift of life to the fellow man.”
