During a special event, the “Made in Greece Awards 2024” were presented to companies that continue to invest in our country, achieving significant performance in the creation and distribution of products. The event took place at the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre and was organized by the Hellenic Academy of Marketing (ELAM), in collaboration with Direction Business Network, and is part of ELAM’s ongoing effort to strengthen and disseminate a new development model of innovation and extroversion, which responds to the modern challenges of product production and marketing.

The sixth in a row “Made in Greece” awards were held under the auspices of the Ministries of Rural Development and Food, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The event was presented by the journalists Vassilis Tsekouras and Thodoris Vgenis and was attended by representatives of political bodies as well as many entrepreneurs and company executives.

The companies that were awarded come from the whole spectrum of Greek industrial and agricultural production. Criteria for evaluation, excellence, and reward were quality, innovation, differentiation, targeted markets, international distribution networks, strong brand name,e and the employment of domestic production factors.

In his address, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Christos Staikouras, stressed that it is the responsibility of the state to be as close as we can be to businesses, because it is indeed thanks to and because of them that there is high and sustainable economic growth in the country and more and better jobs are created while strengthening social cohesion. “I owe it to my physical presence and the patronage of the Ministry to honour these enterprises. I also owe it to myself as a state to be with you, as in previous years, and I believe that despite any objections, any concerns, we need to run faster and move at a better speed. After all, together we have done well in recent years.”

The Chairman of the Board of ELAM, Georgios Baltas, Professor of the Athens University of Economics and Business, Director of Postgraduate Studies, and Director of the Marketing Research Laboratory recalled that the motto of “Made in Greece”, from 2013 until today, is “We reward production, we highlight Greece” and stressed the importance of production and productive reconstruction. “We believe that production is something that goes beyond the economy, it is a process that reflects the identity of each country, what people can do, what workers can create, what initiatives entrepreneurs take, what the natural environment offers, what the country’s position in the international division of labour is. By highlighting the creators of Greek production, we highlight the country,” he said.

This year the distinction was awarded to Sophia Kounenaki – Efraimoglou, Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation of the Hellenic World and Head of the Cultural Centre “Hellenic Cosmos”.

“Georgios Avlonitis” Marketing Award
The Hellenic Academy of Marketing, honoring its late founder, Georgios Avlonitis, has established this year the Marketing Award “Georgios Avlonitis”, within the framework of the “Made in Greece Awards”. The distinction was awarded to the company Violanda.

Life Time Achievement Award
It was awarded to Grigory Tzirakian, President of Europa Profil Aluminium SA.

Honorary Awards
