The second-degree trial of actor Petros Filippidis is expected to be of particular interest today at the Court of Appeal, with the complainants insisting on their statements against him and him, through his lawyer, speaking of coverage.
Shortly after 9.00 am, Petros Filippidis arrived at the Court of Appeal, without making a statement, accompanied by his lawyer.
It will be recalled that in the first instance, the actor had been found not guilty due to doubts from the first and most serious charge he faced, that of repeated rape against a female colleague, but had been found guilty of the two attempted rapes for which he will now be tried again.
The decision of the trial court had been handed down in February 2023 and had imposed an 8-year sentence on Petros Filippidis for the two acts for which he was found guilty.
The court of first instance had even rejected the actor’s request for recognition of two mitigating circumstances but had granted him a suspension of his sentence until the appeal.
