The former Prime Minister of Syria announced that he has agreed to hand over power to the rebel group that overthrew the Assad regime.

Speaking to Al Arabiya television, Mohammad Jalali said he reached the agreement with what he referred to as the “Salvation Government.” This move marks the definitive end of Bashar al-Assad‘s regime in Damascus, following the rebels’ capture of the city and Assad’s escape to Russia.

Jalali stated yesterday that he will remain in the country to oversee the transition of power.
