A break-in at the Sithonia town planning office is being reported by sources in the local municipality. The burglary reportedly took place in the late hours of Wednesday at the office of the Director, while policemen were at the facility conducting investigations.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Sithonia has decided to suspend the operation of the Ioannis Mallinis, following the scandal with the circuits issuing illegal permits ofor perating in Halkidiki.
According to reports, the mayor of Sithonia took this decision in order to check all planning permissions in progress from the specific planning department directly involved in the case.
In fact, the mayor is expected to sign the relevant decision, which will then be published in Diavgeia, while it will be notified to TEE, the Transparency Authority and the Ministry of Interior. Among other things, Mr. Mallinis calls for a full audit and to give extension to the buildings built with NSRF programs and to check the permits.
It is recalled that criminal charges were brought by the prosecutor of Polygyros against the 21 arrested in the illegal permit-issuing ring that operated in Northern Greece and was dismantled by the Internal Affairs Department of the Hellenic Police.
Specifically, the defendants are being prosecuted – on a case-by-case basis – for directing and participating in a criminal organization, for bribery and bribery of an official, for direct complicity in bribery, money laundering, and for gang activity. Different prosecutions are expected to be brought against the other 86 people included in the case file.
All of them were brought before the judicial authorities yesterday, were given a deadline to answer to the investigating magistrate in the coming days, and remain in custody until then.
