Work stoppage will take place today, Friday (13/12), the workers of Metro and HSAP with the consequence that the trains will be mobilized for some hours.
Specifically, on both fixed-track vehicles the work stoppage is scheduled to start at 9 pm and continue until the end of the shift.
What the Metro and HSAP workers are demanding
“It is incredibly incomprehensible that in a supposedly good and fair government, things that are self-evident and fair, need special encouragement and pressure to be institutionalized.
As of the beginning of 2024, under the existing legislation, the date relating to the payment of the unhealthy allowance that applied to specialties that were placed at different economic levels under the 28-6-2013 CBA expired. And while on the one hand the company, recognizing the perversity, determined a different amount from the one provided for, on the other hand this action is being scrutinized for its legality, always having the sword of Damocles hanging over it, with the known results.
So even though a year has passed and workers are up in the air because at any moment the blatantly fair payment of the allowance can be called into question, there is not the slightest will from political leaders to legislate. In any case, the list in question must be updated and adjusted in line with the new payment levels. Obviously, however, the priority is to define the minimum wage by law and not through collective bargaining with the trade unions.
Something similar is happening with the three-year tenure (seniority outside the company) of colleagues hired from 2020 onwards. Despite promises that their years of service before joining the STASY force will be recognized and the problem will disappear, there is no intention to rectify this injustice! Finally, the insurance policy, although outlined in the latest NSC (2024-2025, as in the previous one), as well as in the law, will only miraculously be granted to the workers, as the Ministry of Finance is studiously avoiding to approve the disbursement of the amount.
For all the above major labour issues, we call upon you to be vigilant, because in the times we live in, it is “fashionable” to demand even what is agreed upon or derives from coercive laws of the state, which of course are only applied literally to the provisions that cut wages and rights from the people of labour”.
