Ukraine’s president said he is preparing to restore diplomatic relations with Syria.

“We are preparing to restore diplomatic relations with Syria and cooperation in international organizations,” Zelensky said after hearing a report on Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Shibiha’s visit to Syria on Monday.

Syria’s Foreign Minister, Assad al-Sibbani, is making his first foreign visit to Saudi Arabia. He said he hopes to open a “new and bright page” in relations with Saudi Arabia after arriving in the Sunni kingdom where he is making his first foreign visit.

“I have just arrived in the sister kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Kasra and intelligence chief Anas Hatab,” the head of Syria’s de facto government said via X.

“With this first visit in the history of free Syria, we hope to open a new and bright page in Syrian-Saudi relations, rising in the style of the long common history of our two countries,” he added.
