Efforts to locate 23-year-old Panagiotis, who has been missing since Monday afternoon after becoming separated from his friends while descending the mountain, are ongoing at the Seli ski resort in Emathia. The search operation is being supported by a helicopter, and weather conditions are currently favorable for the search.
According to the manager of the ski resort who spoke to ANT1, “We have gone around all the dangerous spots apparently he got far enough away from the ski resort.”
According to him, the most prevalent possibilities are “either the young man was injured far from the ski resort or he fell into a tree.”
For this reason, he added, “We are now searching the wooded parts of the mountain” with a helicopter, three drones, two specially trained dogs, and dozens of EMAK rescuers and volunteers searching the area inch by inch.

The 23-year-old was a skydiver
According to his aunt, Panagiotis “was a parachutist and we believe that if he was injured he would have protected himself”. She told SKY that the young man “was not wearing a helmet, he had bars, water some clothes, etc. in his bag. He was dressed well, he was wearing a ski suit.”
And described the last time his brother and friends saw him was at 14:08 noon on Monday, when they chose to go straight down the track, and “he moved diagonally”.
“He was experienced, he liked skiing. We can’t get a cell phone trace,” he added.
“He was knowledgeable, and the day before yesterday he was here”
“Every minute counts. The last time his friends saw him was at 14:08, they let him go down alone, they waited for him until 4 and when they saw he didn’t come back, they called for help,” the 23-year-old’s aunt told ERT earlier.
According to her, the young man “is knowledgeable, and he was here the day before yesterday,” while adding that the last signal from his mobile phone was at 2:38 p.m. Monday.
“We believe that we will have good news because Panagiotis is a strong boy,” the skier’s aunt concluded.

As the president of the municipal community of Kato Vermio-Selio, Georgios Farsarotos said the rescuers, fortunately, do not have to face adverse weather conditions in the battle to locate the 23-year-old.
In particular, the temperature at an altitude of 1,800 meters on the mountain in the evening did not drop below zero and ranged from 1 to 5 degrees Celsius.
According to the information of veriotis.gr, the young man, who comes from Kilkis, went up with his company, 4-5 people from Thessaloniki, to Seli for skiing on Christmas Day. The young man, who was snowboarding, at some point, walked away from his group to explore the slopes of the ski resort.
