Newsroom January 14 02:27

The president of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos, met today in Parliament with Louka Katseli.

The president of SYRIZA referred to “serious issues regarding the rule of law” in the country and underlined that “your candidacy can contribute with integrity and democratic values,” pointing out that “this candidacy has the potential to unite broader forces; it is a progressive proposal.”

Louka Katseli’s Remarks

Louka Katseli explained her acceptance of the proposal, stating, “I accepted because I believe that the role of the President, especially in this very challenging moment and the dystopia we are experiencing globally, is pivotal, particularly regarding issues of values. Greece needs a moral compass, which I think is currently missing. We need to inspire, to provide a vision and hope for young people to continue fighting for a fair society and a secure homeland, and to give real meaning to the concepts we often use in public discourse but rarely explain.”

“What does true democracy mean today? What does sustainable development mean? How can we ensure a better future for our children? I hope my candidacy will gain broader support, and I believe the best outcome would be for us to act as catalysts for a better homeland,” she concluded.
