The United States today imposed new sanctions related to Russia that target multiple entities, a China-based entity and a bank in Kyrgyzstan, according to a statement posted on the U.S. Treasury Department’s website.
OJSC Keremet Bank is the bank in Kyrgyzstan.
Earlier today, the Kremlin said Russia’s goal is to minimize the impact of new US sanctions against the oil sector, but nothing precludes a possible response from Moscow.
“We are carefully examining the situation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “The goal is to take those measures that will minimize the consequences of these illegal measures and that will best serve the interests of our country, first of all, and our companies.”
