The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Costas Tasoulas, who is expected to succeed her in the highest state office, met at Fatsio restaurant in Pagrati. The two dined without formalities and discussed for an hour and a half.
The meeting was made known in a Facebook post by journalist Popi Diamantakou, who happened to be in the same restaurant with a group of journalists. Ms Diamantakou wrote:
Just after finishing their meal, the former and the current President, were here next to Fatsio. This is the first time this has happened as far as we can remember, the small group of people who were here at the event. We liked the informality, which seemed spontaneous and it was a very nice image to change the baton over a plate of good Greek food, in an old, traditional, and not at all fancy restaurant with a palatial atmosphere, which “raised” generations of Athenians. This meeting lasted 1 1/2 hours and it doesn’t matter what they said but what the two of them symbolized.
