Tribute at Gate 2 of “Leoforos” Stadium for the “General” – Public viewing at Athens Metropolitan Chapel at 9:00 AM, Funeral Service at 3:00 PM.

Family, friends, teammates, and fans bid farewell today to Mimis Domazos, the “General” of Greek football, who passed away on Friday at the age of 83.

Shortly before 8:30 AM, Domazos’ coffin, draped with the Panathinaikos flag, arrived at Leoforos Stadium. In front of Gate 2, his daughter, Popi Domazou, along with football fans and friends, welcomed him as the Panathinaikos anthem played over the stadium speakers.

A Final Stop at Leoforos

“It is incredibly difficult. My father is here. We thank everyone. All of Greece is mourning. My father is here,” said Popi Domazou tearfully, whispering “Daddy” as her father’s coffin arrived at the stadium.

As the coffin was carried into the stadium, the gathered crowd chanted “Immortal” in honor of the legendary footballer.

An Emotional Farewell from His Grandson

Among the tributes, a particularly moving gesture came from Domazos’ grandson, Stamatis, who left a black shirt bearing the words “Eternally Loyal.” Sprayed onto it was the heartfelt message: “A lifetime Panathinaikos fan. Grandpa, I will love you forever.”

Funeral Details

The coffin of Mimis Domazos will be placed for public viewing starting at 9:00 AM at the Athens Metropolitan Chapel. The funeral service will take place at 3:00 PM, followed by burial at the First Cemetery of Athens.
