A “historic appeal” amid political efforts to end the long-running conflict with the Turkish state is expected to be made by jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, according to the Turkish pro-Kurdish party.

“Ocalan is preparing to make a historic appeal in the coming days for a permanent solution to the Kurdish issue. Ocalan is preparing and will make this appeal soon,” People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) co-chairman Tunzer Bakirhan told his party’s parliamentary group in the Turkish National Assembly.
