Urgent investigation ordered by the Supreme Court prosecutor over an offensive post targeting the judge handling the Tempi case

Posts like this "at the very least incite crimes and acts of violence through the internet," says Georgia Adelini

Newsroom February 12 12:24

Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adelini, in response to a post targeting the appellate judge investigating the Tempi train crash case, has ordered an urgent preliminary investigation by the head of the Athens Prosecutor’s Office to examine potential criminal offenses that are prosecuted ex officio.

Her urgent directive is as follows:

“At a time when the judiciary, through its constitutionally established institutions—including the appellate judge appointed by the plenary session of the Larissa Court of Appeals (as has always been the case for matters of exceptional importance under the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure)—is striving to fulfill the rightful and overwhelming public demand for truth in the Tempi tragedy, self-appointed, hypocritical ‘defenders of the institutions,’ who shrink at nothing in their efforts to serve petty interests of all kinds, are in reality striking at the very heart of democracy through their public statements, actions, and social media posts.

Not only do they suggest to society that the proper way to deliver justice is through a return to vigilante justice, medieval practices, and mob trials, but they go even further. They insult and ridicule institutions and those who represent them, directly targeting individuals with posts such as the following—posts which, at the very least, incite criminal acts, violence, and other unlawful behavior against these individuals through the internet and attempt to exert improper influence on judicial officials in violation of criminal law.”

The post in question, which is attached to the case file, was published on social media by T.K. (whose full details are included in the post) and reads as follows:

“Pictured here is Sotiris Bakaimis, a corrupt appellate judge assigned to the Tempi case after the file was taken away from three other non-submissive judges, including the Larissa prosecutor whose son was abducted for blackmail! He is a servant of Koulis and is keeping crucial evidence locked in his drawer to obstruct justice. He ordered the fabrication of the fake Kapernaros videos and the bogus seizure of hard drives from the security company managing OSE. HOUND HIM ONLINE!!!”

“In light of this, we request that you immediately conduct an urgent preliminary investigation into the potential commission of ex officio prosecutable crimes and inform us accordingly.”
