Save a Greek Stray partners with the scouts for animal rescue in emergency situations

The program will initially start in Attica and aims to gradually expand to other regions of Greece

Newsroom February 18 07:55

In a significant step towards animal welfare, Save a Greek Stray, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of stray animals, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Scouts of Greece. This collaboration aims to establish a comprehensive rescue mechanism for animals in emergency situations, with an initial focus on Attica and plans to gradually expand throughout Greece.

A Strong Commitment to Animal Welfare

With a deep sense of responsibility towards animals in need, Save a Greek Stray has joined forces with the Scouts of Greece, an organization known for its vast experience in crisis management and social contributions. The partnership sets the stage for the creation of an effective system for rescuing animals during emergencies, combining both organizations’ expertise and resources.

Key Focus Areas of the Initiative

The collaboration will focus on several core components aimed at ensuring the protection of animals during critical situations:

  • Training and Education: Educational programs and hands-on activities will be designed and implemented to prepare volunteers and Scout members for handling animals in crisis conditions.
  • Specialized Equipment & Infrastructure: The development of proper facilities and equipment will be prioritized for the temporary shelter and care of animals in need.
  • First Aid & Medical Care: Volunteers will receive training in basic animal first aid, and the partnership will strengthen ties with veterinarians and animal care facilities.
  • Specialized Rescue Teams: A dedicated rescue team will be formed and organized to respond quickly and efficiently to animal rescue needs during natural disasters or other emergencies.

The initiative will initially be launched in Attica, where both organizations will lay the groundwork for training and collaboration. The goal is to leverage the lessons learned from this initial phase and extend the program to other regions across Greece, ultimately establishing a nationwide, organized response to animal welfare during emergencies.

With their shared commitment to the well-being of animals, Save a Greek Stray and the Scouts of Greece are set to make a lasting impact on the country’s approach to animal rescue in crisis situations.
