Budget: Primary surplus of €1.98 billion in January – 5.6% increase in tax revenues

Above the target for a primary surplus of 1.4 billion euros and against a primary surplus of 2.28 billion euros compared to the corresponding month of 2024 - Tax revenues amounted to 5.88 billion euros

The primary surplus of Greece’s State Budget was 1.98 billion euros in January 2025, according to final data from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance.

It thus exceeded the target for a primary surplus of €1.4 billion, but was below the €2.282 billion target for the same period in 2024.

The tax revenue amounted to €5.879 billion and is up €314 million or 5.6% against the target included in the 2025 Budget’s explanatory report.
