Plakias on the protest: “We do not support or aim to overthrow any government, please protest peacefully”

One day before the rally, Nikos Plakias, who tragically lost his twin daughters and niece in the Tempi disaster, sent an important message. He addressed the crowds ahead of the February 28th rally, calling for peaceful protests and emphasizing the families' sole focus on justice

Newsroom February 27 07:20

“The people have responded to the families’ call, and everyone should attend the rallies in all cities. It’s crucial to be very careful. Know that these rallies are solely for the families and no one else. We don’t want any exploitation, nor will we support or overthrow any government. The people who will be in Tempi will be there exclusively for the families, for our children, for the relatives. This rally is for them. We want the children to see from a distance and feel some peace. We want them to hear the people shouting ‘justice.’ That is the word we are fighting for, and that’s why you should take to the streets – so that we don’t mourn more victims. The state and justice should have been with us from day one, not after two years of struggle and sacrifice,” he said in an interview with ANT1.

He also emphasized: “I tell you, and you know it too, that if it weren’t for us, the relatives, this issue would have been forgotten from the very first day. You will protest peacefully, shout peacefully, and light a candle for our children.”
