Russia has agreed to help the administration of US President Donald Trump talk to Iran on various issues, including Tehran’s nuclear program and its support for its anti-American local allies, according to a Bloomberg report today.
The report, reproduced by Russian state media, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that “Russia believes that the US and Iran should resolve all problems through negotiations” and that Moscow “is ready to do everything it can to achieve this.”
Last month, Trump restored his campaign of “maximum pressure” against Iran, which includes efforts to reduce its oil exports to zero levels to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Iran denies that it has such an intention.
Russia has deepened its relations with the Islamic Republic since the start of the war in Ukraine and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Iran in January.
