A crucial closed session of the Primary Inquiry Committee on the Tempi is underway, during which its members will decide whether to recommend immediate prosecution and refer Triantopoulos to the Judicial Council for further action.
The majority reportedly suggested that there should be another sitting next week with a summons to examine the audited former deputy minister Christos Triandopoulos and then give the parties reasonable time to prepare their findings.
The same sources said that ND’s rapporteur Konstantina Karampatsoli said that all the evidence in the file on the “bazoma” is sufficient for the drafting of a conclusion and the immediate referral of Triantaopoulos to the Judicial Council for the offence of breach of duty.
In this direction was also pointed to the position of the parliamentary representative of the New Democracy Thanos Plevris in the plenary session of the Parliament. “We assume the responsibility that there will be no invalidity of the procedure. The preliminary investigation without being bound by the request of the controlled deputy minister has the sovereign power to judge whether the material available is capable and sufficient to establish simple indications of prosecution,” he said.
However, the opposition parties disagree with the majority’s plan seeking to keep the scope of the investigation in Parliament.
