The registration of students and students in Public Kindergartens and Public Primary Schools in the country for the 2025-2026 school year, are extended until Monday 31 March 2025, by decision of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Yannis Katsaros.
What parents need to know about their child’s enrolment in first grade
It should be noted that attendance in first grade is mandatory.
Also, please be reminded that a child’s participation in the morning zone class requires participation in the full-day program.
The registration process
Regarding the process, parents should follow the following steps:
– Log in to the application with their TaxisNet codes (follow the here link)
– Check that the marital status information is correct.
- Select “Create Request” and the child for whom they wish to register.
Choose the name of the person to whom you wish to register.
- Attach the necessary supporting documents – alternatively, they can be presented to the school.
- Check the spatial assignment (the school designated based on the child’s home address).
– Completion of attendance data (time of departure, attendance at full day, details of accompanying persons, if other than parents or guardians)
– Acceptance of the conditions and submission of the application.
– Connection and consent to registration of the second parent (if applicable)
About the allocation to a primary school
The enrollment application shall be submitted only to the elementary school to which the student belongs, according to the boundaries of the school district. Please note, that the allocation has been made on the basis of the residential address registered with the Kindergarten that the infant attends during the current school year.
As noted, if a spatial allocation has been made, no changes can be made to the application. The exception to this is if the family has moved, in which case the data must be updated in the PC (myschool) with the submission of the relevant supporting documents.
If a site assignment has not been made to a primary school, parents or guardians should contact the nursery school where the child attends so that the address can be correctly entered in myschool. They can also complete and submit the remaining application details by registering the address, with the requirement to attach proof of the new address.
About the consent of both parents
The consent of both parents is required to complete the registration. Specifically, after one parent submits the application, the other parent will need to log into the system with their own TaxisNet codes to accept the application.
Exceptions to this are in the case of single-parent families or when the spouse does not have a Taxpayer Identification Number in the
Greece.
For any parental or legal custody issues, parents should contact the director of the relevant Kindergarten or Primary School.
What about siblings?
If a child who is to be enrolled in Grade 1 has a sibling who attends a primary school, even if it is a different primary school from the one to which the “first grade” is allocated, parents should only declare this if they wish to be co-educational.
If the sibling does not appear on the list and the parents wish to co-opt, they can fill in the Registration Number and the primary school of attendance to be checked by the principal.
In the case of twins, parents submit two applications, one for each child.
When the child cannot attend the school that submitted the application
If the number of applications submitted is greater than the student capacity that the school can accommodate and there is no possibility of more classes, it is possible that the child may not attend the primary school that applied for enrolment.
In such cases, the Director of Primary Education shall allocate children from the list to neighboring primary schools, taking into account the distance of the schools from the pupils’ home addresses.
The registration process will be completed on 10 April 2025, when parents will be informed of the final allocation of children to primary schools through the application, either by SMS and/or email.
