The authorities continue their investigation into the death of the 57-year-old homeless man at a restaurant in Athens, with the forensic examination expected to provide answers regarding the causes.

According to sources, the medical examiner has determined that the 57-year-old suffered a heart attack and lost consciousness.

At the same time, a fracture in his neck has been identified, which, along with a head injury, is consistent with a fall down the stairs—an explanation given by the restaurant owner and two employees. However, the police investigation is still ongoing.

Employees Moved Him Outside to Mislead Authorities

It all began when the Hellenic Police (ELAS) were alerted to a man lying dead outside a restaurant in central Athens. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found a man unconscious, covered in blood, with a head injury.

When questioned, the restaurant owner reportedly assured the police that the man had been outside the establishment when he suddenly lost his balance and fell, suffering fatal injuries. However, this claim was soon contradicted by security camera footage from the restaurant.

Specifically, the footage showed restaurant employees carrying the unconscious 57-year-old outside, leaving him in front of the restaurant, and then mopping the area.

When confronted with this evidence, both the owner and the two employees changed their statements, claiming that they had mopped the floor, after which the man entered the restaurant, attempted to go to the basement restroom, slipped, fell, and suffered fatal injuries. They further stated that they moved him outside and cleaned the floor to avoid being blamed.

Both the restaurant owner and the employees were arrested but later released without any restrictive conditions.
