The government of Sweden today announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, worth a total of about €1.4 billion. This is the largest military contribution the Nordic country has made to date in the war against Russia.
Swedish Defence Minister, Pal Jonson, told reporters that his country wants to send “the message that it is stepping up its support for Ukraine while increasing the strength and scope of the assistance.”
In a post on the X platform, he clarified that the new package includes strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, artillery, satellite communications and the country’s naval capacity.
At the same time, he announced the introduction of an export guarantee mechanism for military equipment so that more Swedish companies could respond to Ukraine’s requests for defence equipment.
