Kyriaki Griva memorial unveiled in Agioi Anargyroi, “Let It Inspire Strength”

A year after her tragic murder, family, friends, and community members gathered outside the Agioi Anargyroi police station for the unveiling of a memorial dedicated to Kyriaki Griva

Newsroom April 1 09:30

The case gained national attention when it was revealed that Kyriaki had sought police protection but was turned away with the response that “a patrol car is not a taxi.”

At the ceremony, her mother delivered an emotional speech:
“It’s hard for me to speak, but it’s easy to talk about my Kyriaki. She was beautiful, kind, and full of courage. She did what every woman facing abuse should do—she asked for help. But some people refused to give it.”

Her father added:
“This is where my daughter’s soul took flight. Let this memorial remind you of her bravery. Girls, hold your heads high. No man has the right to raise a hand against you.”
