Bloomberg: EU must respond tough to US, US technologies to take centre stage, Macron says

The French President will meet tonight with representatives of the economic sectors directly affected by Trump's new tariffs

Newsroom April 3 08:00

Emanuel Macron’s belief that the European Union should prepare a tough response to the United States with new trade tariffs, Bloomberg reported, citing related sources.

“French President Emmanuel Macron believes the European Union should prepare retaliation, for example by targeting U.S. technologies and services,” the agency wrote, citing people familiar with his view.

Paris wants to ensure that the EU’s response to US tariffs uses all the bloc’s tools to protect its interests, one of the sources added.

At the same time, Macron is expected to meet on Thursday afternoon with representatives of sectors of the French economy affected by the US tariffs.

The meeting will include business leaders from the aerospace industry, agriculture, wine, chemicals, electronics, and metallurgy, among others.
