A thousand two hundred students of primary and secondary education were present at the final of the National STEM 2025 Contest in Larissa, organized for the 11th year by the Educational Robotics & Science Organization STEM Education with COSMOTE as a strategic partner.

The young tech talents studied the planet Mars and presented prototype robotic projects using Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT). In particular, they proposed solutions with electronic measurements of physical quantities and robotic systems for the production of water, oxygen, food, and hydrogen for rocket fuel. They also presented systems for mining metals and building materials, intelligent space transportation systems, and smart wearable devices for astronaut safety.

Panagiotis Gavriilidis, Chief Commercial Officer, Consumer Segment, OTE Group, said: “Congratulations to the teams that excelled and to all the students who tested their strengths in this year’s National STEM Competition. The robotic projects presented by the students once again impressed with their inventiveness, detailed design, and technological excellence. The projects that utilized cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, were of particular interest in critical functions for robots, enhancing their autonomy. The new generation leveraging digital technology leads us to a new connected Greece.”

The Project A.R.E.S. team from Galati presented an intelligent solution for mapping the planet Mars and finding valuable resources for life, while the MARTIANS team used these resources to produce energy and drinking water through electrolysis. From Symi, the “We Can Live on Mars” team presented a complete and fully autonomous colony on the planet.

At the high school, the DAMATIR team from Tripoli created a highly intelligent greenhouse entirely adapted to the conditions of the inhospitable planet, the GALATAS ROBOGANG team from Galatas of Trizina created an autonomous infrastructure construction system, and the RED HORIZON team from Patras created a smart wristwatch that collects biometric and other data suitable to warn the colonists of direct and indirect threats to their health.

“Our nation’s youth once again gave a strong showing at the National STEM Competition. Their excellent ideas, project implementation, teamwork, and use of the latest technologies, combined with mathematics, physics, and engineering,g brought solutions to issues of survival on Mars. The exceptional potential of our country continues to grow and to keep pace with countries that have demonstrated significant technological achievements and have integrated STEM methodology early on in their education. Through our strategic partnership with COSMOTE, we are on a path of growth and progress, “said Ioannis Somalakidis, President of STEM Education.

The results of the teams that excelled in the 11th National STEM Competition are available on the STEM Education website.

The first teams that collected the necessary scores in the categories Open, Regular, Advanced Primary, Secondary and High School have secured their participation in the qualifying rounds of the World Robot Olympiad 2025 at the end of June 2025, where the Greek delegation will represent our country in the Robotics Olympiad to be held in Singapore on the theme “The Future of Robots”.
