Heaped praise on Bartzokas: “The coach is the greatest challenge”

The former Panathinaikos basketball player, who now makes his living at Real Madrid, spoke highly of Olympiakos' head coach

Newsroom April 25 10:43

This isn’t the first time Mario Hezonja has lauded Georgios Bartzokas—and it probably won’t be the last.

Just hours before the second game against Olympiakos at the SEF for the Euroleague playoffs, the Croatian star of Real Madrid was asked about the challenges they face when playing against the Piraeus team, and he commented on Bartzokas.

“I believe he is an exceptional coach. You could say he has a vision, seeing basketball objectively. They have three different lineups to play against, and you need to be at the top of your game to beat them,” Hezonja stated, among other things, showering praise on Bartzokas.

In fact, this isn’t the first time the Croatian has spoken highly of the Olympiakos coach. Before last year’s Final Four semifinal in Berlin, Hezonja had again praised Bartzokas.
