The 48-year-old Turkish man who was arrested at dawn in Kato Vrysini Rodopi on charges of shooting at an NIS team in Thermi last Tuesday had secured a legal stay in Greece. The man in question had been granted asylum in Greece in 2023, as he had been deemed eligible for international protection. Previously, in 2009 and 2018, he had been arrested for illegal entry into Greece.

However, as it has already been established, the 48-year-old is wanted nationally in Turkey for drug trafficking, human trafficking, violation of the weapons law and escape.

He is now expected to be brought before the prosecutor in Thessaloniki, while his two accomplices are wanted.
