A united front appears to be forming once again in the Middle East between the United States and the United Kingdom. Following leaks from the emergency meeting currently taking place at the White House with his military staff, President Donald Trump reportedly appears closer than ever to deciding on direct involvement in a war with Tehran. The British government is also said to have issued clear orders to deploy more fighter jets and personnel to its forces in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Shortly before urgently leaving the G7 summit, Trump met with the British Prime Minister, and his rapid return to Washington signals that specific decisions have been made regarding the escalating and out-of-control tension between Iran and Israel.
The potential direct involvement of the U.S. in a war with Iran evokes memories of both the First Gulf War in 1990 and the 2003 joint U.S.-UK operation in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Chief of the General Staff issued a statement calling for the immediate evacuation of Tel Aviv and Haifa, emphasizing that the missile strikes up to now were merely a “warning” of what is to follow from today onward.
