Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of the Republic, Constantine Tasoulas, on Monday morning, June 23.
Mitsotakis told Mr Tasoulas that Greek Navy ships are out of Libyan territorial waters as a precautionary measure, checking for flows of illegal migrants. “The traffickers will not be in charge of who enters Greece,” the prime minister said, adding that he would raise the issue at the EU summit.
Regarding the latest developments in the Middle East, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that the government’s concerns are strong, adding that “we call on the parties involved to return to the negotiating table.”
Finally, the Prime Minister also referred to the attack on a Greek Orthodox Church in Damascus, Syria, expressing his disgust and anger. “I call on the new Syrian government to ensure in practice the protection of all religious communities,” he told the Prime Minister.
