Four alerts via 112 were sent to residents urging them to evacuate the areas of Thymari, Tourkolimano, Katafygio, and Charakas.

Specifically, at 12:55 PM, a message was sent via 112 to the residents of the settlement of Thymari, instructing them to evacuate and move toward Lagonisi.

Shortly after, at 1:32 PM, a new message was issued calling on residents of the Tourkolimano area to evacuate and head toward Lavrio, while at 2:34 PM, the 112 alert sounded for a third time, notifying those in the settlements of Katafygio and Charakas to evacuate and proceed toward Lavrio. Finally, another 112 alert was sent a short while ago in the Triantafyllia area.

At the scene, 90 firefighters are operating with 28 vehicles, 8 aircraft, and 5 helicopters.

A wildfire broke out earlier this Thursday afternoon in an open plot in Palaia Fokaia, in Eastern Attica.

According to the Fire Department, 72 firefighters with 27 vehicles and 2 ground teams from the 1st Special Forestry Operations Unit (EMODE) are already at the scene. Four aircraft and two helicopters are also battling the blaze from the air.

An emergency alert was issued by 112, warning residents about the forest fire in the Thymari area of Palaia Fokaia, advising: “If you are in the area, evacuate towards Lagonisi.”
