Seagull surge sparks alarm in seaside town — Postmen and tourists were attacked

An entire town in England is suffering because of… seagulls! More specifically, in Liskeard, postmen are being forced to change their route as they fall victim to attacks by… seagulls.

As a result, deliveries are often not on time. Seagulls suddenly attack postmen from house roofs, who are overcome with fear for their health and safety.

The problem with seagull attacks has become so bad that Royal Mail has warned residents of Liskeard that there is a possibility they may not receive their mail on time, and has suggested alternatives such as delivery to a specific location away from seagull nests.

This is not the first time residents have faced this particular problem. Royal Mail had apologised last year for delays caused by seagulls nesting in the city.

Residents are concerned because the seagulls are also attacking elderly carers, pharmaceutical deliveries and visitors who now find it difficult to get close to homes.

According to the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds), the nesting season for gulls runs from April to July. During these months, the birds become extremely protective of their young and even attack humans who merely pass near the nests.

However, the situation remains legally difficult, as the gulls are protected by law, and nest destruction is considered a criminal offence.
