Martha, the orphaned bear cub just a few months old, who was found last year frightened in the yard of a house in Emporio, Eordaia, has now returned to her natural habitat. Despite efforts at the time to locate her mother, they were unsuccessful, and so her new life under the care of Arcturos began.
She was raised with minimal human interaction to preserve her wild behavior. According to the organization, Martha consistently displayed natural instincts and avoided human contact throughout her time in care.
After a year of nurturing and rehabilitation at the Arcturos Wildlife Reintroduction Center, Martha is now free again—just as every wild animal should be. Early signs are very encouraging, as she is actively avoiding inhabited areas.
The rehabilitation and reintroduction of Martha was supported from the very beginning by environmentally conscious citizens. Significant support also came from Lidl Hellas, which consistently contributed to her care and upbringing throughout the entire year.
