An alert was triggered on Thursday morning at Rhodes airport when it was informed of an incoming aircraft with a malfunction on one of its landing wheels.
According to dimokratiki.gr, the aircraft had taken off from Cologne, Germany, and was headed to Kos. However, during takeoff from the German airport, an issue was noticed with one of the wheels, prompting the pilot to change the destination airport.
The aircraft landed on a parallel runway so as not to disrupt traffic for other planes, and one of the landing gear tires burst upon touchdown.
Passengers disembarked via the parallel runway and were transferred to a hotel while awaiting a replacement aircraft to continue their journey.
