A major police operation is unfolding in a wooded area in Cornwall following the discovery of multiple human bodies, sparking shock and concern across the UK.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many bodies have been found, who the victims are, or what happened to them. Police forces from across the United Kingdom, including forensic teams and special units, have converged on the area, and the National Crime Agency (NCA) is also involved in the investigation. Private security guards have been deployed, and a drone ban has been enforced over the region.
The investigation is focused on Paramour Woods, a small forest near the A390 motorway, where searches have been ongoing for three weeks.
Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez confirmed that more than one body has been found in the forest, though she did not specify the exact number.
“We have discovered deceased individuals in the woods, and we are working to determine how many there are, who they are, and what happened to them,” she said.
Disappearance of 43-Year-Old Man Led to Grim Discovery
According to British media, the investigation began after the body of 43-year-old Daniel Coleman was found in Paramour Woods, near the village of Sticker. Coleman had been missing for several weeks from the St Austell area, prompting growing concern.
Authorities believe Coleman was murdered sometime between July 2 and July 7. A suspect, James Desborough, has already been charged with his murder and remanded in custody. However, three weeks later, the case has taken a far darker turn.
One of the Most Serious and Complex Murder Cases in Recent UK History
British media describe this as one of the most serious and complex multiple murder cases the country has seen in years, with the possibility of a serial killer still not ruled out.
Local Cornwall news outlets report that since early this week, a white forensic van, a riot response van, and local police vehicles have been stationed in the area. Officers have also set up a small tent, possibly as a command post or crime scene unit.
The area has been cordoned off with red police tape, and extensive ground searches are underway.
