Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced, through a Facebook post, the contribution of Hellenic Air Force aircraft in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Specifically, he wrote:
“This morning, two aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force carried out drops of 8.5 tons of essential food supplies to areas in Gaza. The operation was organized in cooperation with countries of the European Union and the Middle East, aiming to support the basic needs of people in the war-torn region. Greece will continue to take initiatives for the immediate cessation of hostilities, the release of hostages, and the unobstructed flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza. It is the duty of all of us to immediately put an end to human suffering.”
Government announcement on the Gaza mission
On Saturday, August 9, a humanitarian aid mission to Gaza was successfully carried out.
The Hellenic Armed Forces, following cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and National Defence (MFA and MoD) and the competent Jordanian authorities, executed an airdrop of food (a total of 8.5 tons) into designated drop zones within the Gaza Strip.
The operation was completed with the participation of two transport aircraft (C-130H and C-27J) of the Hellenic Air Force, along with their respective crews, as well as personnel from the Special Warfare Command (SWC). Continuous real-time monitoring was provided by the National Operations Center (NOC).
