Sailing: Record Participation in the “Aegean Regatta 2025” – Yachts from 8 Countries to Compete

This year’s top summer sailing event will feature 72 yachts from 26 clubs, a figure that far exceeds the entries of the national championship

Newsroom August 19 04:29

A record number of entries has been confirmed for the Aegean Regatta 2025, organized by the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy in cooperation with the Offshore Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation.

This year’s top summer sailing event will feature 72 yachts from 26 clubs, a figure that far exceeds the entries of the national championship.

The international presence is equally impressive, with athletes from eight countries already registered: Turkey, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Sweden/Finland (to be confirmed), and Russia. Notably, the Russian competitor will participate with a San Marino passport and a yacht from Estonia.

Safety First
The safety of all participants is a top priority. Strict adherence to regulations will ensure a smooth and successful race. For the first time, six measurers — the largest number ever used in an offshore regatta — have been appointed to inspect the yachts, making this the most thoroughly checked fleet in the history of the event.

A Unique Sailing Journey Across the Aegean
From 23 to 30 August 2025, Greek and international yachts will embark on the 24th edition of the Aegean Regatta, sailing through the stunning seas of the Northern and Northeastern Aegean.

The race will start from Myrina, Lemnos, with stopovers at Agios Efstratios and Plomari, before finishing in Mytilene. A week of intense competition will also offer unforgettable experiences, showcasing the natural beauty and hospitality of the Aegean islands.

“The Aegean Regatta is much more than an annual offshore race. It is a true celebration of seamanship, fair play, teamwork, and love for the sea. Each year, more and more sailors embrace this event, and through it, we highlight the beauty and culture of our precious islands — the timeless shield of the Aegean blue and the eternal memory of ancient Ionia.”

This year’s regatta also carries an emotional note, honoring the memory of Erifylli, who dedicated her life to the event and will always be remembered as part of its history.

With enthusiasm and high expectations, the Aegean Regatta 2025 promises once again to deliver unique sailing experiences in Lemnos, Agios Efstratios, Plomari, and Mytilene.
