Many of Google’s services went down on the morning of Thursday, September 4, affecting Greece among other countries

Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, and several other services were temporarily disrupted today in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, and Croatia were among the countries impacted. Some locations in Ukraine, Russia, and Western Europe were also affected.

The Association for Freedom of Expression, which monitors internet censorship in Turkey, reported that the Google outage — the company belongs to Alphabet — began around 10:00 a.m. Greek time.

In Germany, outage-monitoring website allestoerungen.de — a branch of US-based Ookla — reported a rise in Google outages starting around 09:00 local time (10:00 Greek time).
