Authorities arrested the director of the Cardiac Surgery Department at Hippocrateio General Hospital of Athens, who is alleged to have demanded money from patients.
According to reports, the doctor allegedly requested money in order to take care of patients who had undergone surgery and were under his supervision, with the sums contained in the envelopes reaching as much as €5,000.
The complaint was filed directly with the Police Internal Affairs Directorate, while no complaint had been made at the hospital itself against the specific cardiac surgeon by a patient.
