Sweden’s new health minister, Elizabeth Lunn, fainted Tuesday during a press conference minutes after her official introduction.
Lann, a member of the Christian Democratic Party, was standing next to Prime Minister Ulf Christerson and other government members when she suddenly lost consciousness and fell, hitting her head on the podium. The party’s chairwoman, Emma Bush, along with other officials, immediately rushed to her aid, while security men provided first aid before escorting her out of the chamber.
Shortly afterwards, the minister returned smiling and reassured those present, saying: “It wasn’t an ordinary Tuesday, but that can happen when you have a sugar crash.” It is not yet known if Lunn required further medical attention; however, she did not sustain any obvious injuries. The press conference was canceled.

“It looked really serious. It fell right in front of me,” said a DN reporter who was in the room.
Lann, who was until recently a city councillor in Gothenburg, took over as health minister on Tuesday after her predecessor, Ako Ankarburg Johansson, abruptly resigned on Monday.
