Actor Vasilis Bispikis is to appear at the Evelpidon Courthouse tomorrow, accused of causing damage with his car to parked vehicles, a fence, and a garage door, and then abandoning the scene of the accident on Karaoli and Dimitriou Street in Filothei. The actor will spend the night in custody at the Kifisia Traffic Police Department.

The actor admitted to Kifisia traffic police officers that he was driving the powerful Ford Raptor in the early hours of Saturday. His car, which is under restriction, has also suffered significant damage.

It should be noted that under the new Traffic Code, abandoning the scene of a traffic accident that involves property damage (as also stated in Article 43 of the previous Code) carries penalties for the driver such as a fine, revocation of the driving license, and criminal prosecution under Article 290A of the Penal Code for dangerous driving. The exact penalties and their severity depend on whether the driver is a repeat offender, with the first repeat offense leading to higher fines and longer license suspensions, and further offenses resulting in even stricter penalties.
