Sailing: Bougiouris wins silver at the ILCA 7 Masters World Championship

Another world title for Greek sailing in 2025 — this time thanks to the highly experienced Antonis Bougiouris, who won the silver medal at the ILCA 7 Masters World Championship held in Formia, Italy

Newsroom October 1 06:03

A total of 38 athletes from 16 countries competed, where Bougiouris delivered an outstanding performance. Despite unfavorable weather conditions (with almost no wind), Bougiouris once again showcased his high competitive level and climbed the podium.

It’s worth remembering that Antonis Bougiouris from Syros has already won six gold medals, two silver, and two bronze in ILCA 7 Masters World Championships — making it a total of 10 medals and truly writing history in the sport.

There were 11 races in total, with Bougiouris finishing in 8th, 2nd, 2nd, 7th, 1st, 4th, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 13th, and 39th place — the last one being his discard as the weakest result.

Another strong performance came from Aristotelis Chatzistamatiou, who finished 4th. In the ILCA 7 Apprentices category, Michalis Koulianos took 5th place among 20 boats from 13 countries.

In total, across all categories, 450 sailors from around the world took part.
