Serious problems were caused by the storm that hit the island of Andros on Tuesday afternoon (7/10).
Specifically, as the Municipality of Andros said in a statement, the heavy rainfall resulted in the overflow of the river in the area of Neiborio, carrying away waste materials, soil, and branches, which blocked the exit to the sea, resulting in the roads being flooded with mud.
According to the Municipality of Andros, “the Civil Protection of the Municipality, under the coordination of the mayor, Theodosis Sousoudis and the special associate Yannis Bakelas, reacted immediately.
From the first moment of the bad weather, a JCB project machine and a truck of the Municipality operated at the site for cleaning and restoring road safety, while a police car with two policemen regulated the traffic.”
The work was carried out until late midnight, and is still being carried out today in order to restore the outlet of the torrent and clear the flooded roads.
