Edith Liszewski (1932 – 2025) – In Loving Memory: “You are the Resurrection, the Life & the Repose of Your departed servant, O Christ our God”

Edith’s life was marked by her deep love for her husband and her devotion to family and faith

Newsroom October 15 02:03

Beloved Faithful,
It is with faith in the risen Lord and with deep sympathy that we share the passing of Edith Liszewski, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who fell asleep in the Lord after a long and full life, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Yonkers, New York, on December 7, 1932, Edith’s life was defined by dedication and a remarkable spirit. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Paul Liszewski (deceased 2011).

She is lovingly remembered by her children Eileen (Chris) Sullivan, Susan (Demetri) Papacostas, and Paul (Jill) Liszewski; her grandchildren Elizabeth, Amanda, Emily, Katerina, Nicholas, Zoe, Emerson Grace, and John Hudson; and her seven great-grandchildren.

Edith’s life was marked by her deep love for her husband and her devotion to family and faith. Later in life, she found great joy and fulfillment in her work at Christ Church in Bronxville, NY, and the Sarah Lawrence College Library, where her intelligence and curiosity shone brightly. Her sharp mind, quick wit, and well-grounded opinions remained a source of strength and guidance until the very end.

After Paul’s passing, Edith found comfort and happiness living near her family in Armonk, NY, though she never stopped missing her beloved partner. Born during the Great Depression and coming of age after World War II, Edith embodied the resilience, grace, and strength of her generation. She was proud to have lived the American dream—raising a family with love and resourcefulness. She will be deeply missed.
