A new rescue operation involving 42 illegal migrants took place on Tuesday afternoon (October 21) south of Gavdos, conducted by Frontex vessels under the coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC).

According to ERT, the migrants were spotted aboard a boat 15 nautical miles south of Gavdos and are being taken to the island’s port, where the standard procedures for registration, medical assistance, and temporary shelter will be carried out.
