New avenues in the ongoing police investigation into what happened last Saturday in Vorizia that resulted in two people losing their lives, is opened by the video-document that shows the brother-in-law of the 39 year old Fanouris Kargakis firing from a high point near the house where the bomb had been placed.

As it appears in the video, apart from the 43 year old, at the same spot there was a second – unknown at this time – person, who is being sought.

What is also heard clearly is the bursts from the Kalashnikov that was used.

This visual material led ELAS to the identification of the 43 year old brother-in-law of Fanouris Kargakis, the victim of the massacre in Vorizia Heraklion, as the man who was firing the Kalashnikov and from whose shots the 56 year old Evangelia Frangkiadaki was likely killed.

It is reminded that the brother-in-law of Fanouris Kargakis was arrested on Wednesday (11/5) for the weapons found in a cave located on land he owns, with ELAS listing him for participation in the gunfight.

As protothema.gr wrote yesterday, according to initial estimates, the weapons that were found and used are 9mm pistols, Kalashnikovs and a hunting shotgun. The ballistic investigation is expected to reveal the exact number of weapons of each type that were used during the attack.

According to the same information, the 56 year old Evangelia Frangkiadaki bears a through and through wound with long travel in the body, something that suggests she was likely hit by a Kalashnikov.

Police sources report that the 39 year old Kargakis, on whose hands gunpowder residue was found, and the four brothers who are being held for the incident, appear to have had in their possession 9mm guns, which were used during the attack.
