Russia: European counterproposal is unconstructive for Moscow, says Putin’s advisor

The Kremlin stated today that the European counterproposal to the US 28-point peace plan for Ukraine is unconstructive and simply does not work for Moscow

Newsroom November 24 09:06

The recent publication of the US 28-point peace plan has heightened concerns in Ukraine and among European powers that Moscow’s key demands regarding NATO, territorial concessions, and the timeline of any peace agreement have been accepted by Washington.

The European plan significantly alters the meaning and importance of the key points concerning NATO and territory, according to a copy seen by Reuters.

“At first glance, the European plan is completely unconstructive and does not work for us,” said Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov to reporters in Moscow.

President Vladimir Putin had said on Friday that the US peace proposals for Ukraine could serve as a basis for resolving the conflict, but if Kyiv rejects the plan, Russian forces will proceed further.

Ushakov noted that “not all, but many aspects of this (US) plan seem quite acceptable to us,” adding that some should be discussed in more detail.
