Turkish man arrested in Chios for espionage

In the house where he is staying, surveillance equipment was found, such as telephoto lenses, but also contraband cigarettes

A 61-year-old man from Turkey, allegedly involved in a case of espionage, was arrested in the past few days by Hellenic Coast Guard officials in Chios.

The accused was targeted by the authorities following information about his involvement in illegal activities.

A search of the house where he resides on the island revealed equipment indicative of surveillance (camera lenses, tripod, etc.).
