Famellos replied to Tsipras for hiding him in the balcony: We are talking about partnerships without personal ambitions

Speaking at the plenary session of the House of Representatives, the President of SYRIZA responded implicitly but clearly to the former Prime Minister, who at the presentation of his book spoke about party bureaucracies and parties that have come full circle

Newsroom December 4 04:51

In an indirect response to yesterday’s reports by Alexis Tsipras, the President of SYRIZA PS, Socrates Famellos, in the wake of the former Prime Minister’s statement at the presentation of his book, “Ithaca”. Speaking of enclosed leaderships, Tsipras referred to “the anxieties, egos, ambitions, ambitions, detachments, jumps” of progressive party leaders, noting that society is “neither moved by sloppy, delayed and late welds, moves of petty party survival.”

Without mentioning names, however, SYRIZA PS President, Socrates Famellos picked up the gauntlet today, during his speech at the Plenary Session of Parliament, meaningfully reminding twice that “SYRIZA PS has clearly said for a year that it needs a unifying progressive democratic way out”, adding that “we are still today pushing for the reconstitution of the progressive space”.

In detail, the position of Famellos:

Here I want to both remind and reiterate some issues. SYRIZA PS has clearly said for a year that it needs a unifying progressive democratic way out. Because we really need to put an end to the deadlock of this government.

We need a government that will restore both the credibility of the country and the credibility of the state and the credibility and the progress of production and give a perspective to the Greek citizens who feel abandoned.

Without personal self-interest

The government is absent from the big issues of the country and I would like to remind you that SYRIZA PS from the first day of my election has spoken about how dangerous the government is even before the rallies for Tempe, before the scandal of OPEKEPE broke and from the first day we therefore submitted proposals.

And we spoke courageously about proposals for partnerships, which have no personal ambition and go beyond party boundaries, because that is what society wants. To go beyond party egos and put forward credible proposals. And we submitted this proposal very early on, from the process of electing the President of the Republic, without any self-interest, party self-interest or personal self-interest, if you like.

The only interest we have in these proposals of ours is the interests of society and the country. This is our priority and this is the political choice that we have been serving with stability and consistency and with seriousness I would say over the last year so that there is a progressive united response.

Not for a better opposition, but for a better government. This is what Greeks need. But we need a government that responds to the real problems of the people, that restores respect for Parliament and the institutions, and above all that supports the citizens.

Responsibilities and delays

But I must reiterate today that we have spoken clearly about both responsibilities and delays and wavering and denials. To this proposal of a progressive response that gives government a way forward.

We insist today on the reconstitution of the progressive space, we reiterate this necessity as the only necessity to avoid a third destructive and dangerous term of the Right in our country.

This is the priority in Greece today and this is the answer, because there is also the danger that we will not be given a progressive way out, but will get caught up in intolerance, in hatred, in extreme right-wing voices. And that is also dangerous. We are seeing this danger in other European countries as well.

So we will continue to insist on a progressive response and contribute to this dialogue. The initiatives must be strengthened, accelerated and provide a response to society, which is anxious and indeed looking for a progressive project.

Our view, Ladies and Gentlemen, and I want to reiterate it today, is that Greece needs a new credible progressive governance against the government of laziness and corruption and we need to build and create with excesses with honesty, consistency and seriousness as SYRIZA PS has been doing for the last year the Greece of justice, dignity and prosperity..
