Video: Farmer tearfully says goodbye to his 450 sheep — all of his local breed

Hundreds of animals of the Rumluki breed will be slaughtered due to the outbreak of sheep pox

Newsroom December 6 06:53

“It’s like watching our children being killed one by one in front of us,” says Konstantinos Theologos about the sheep in his flock that are about to be put down because of sheep pox.

The farmer from Mikro Monastiri, Thessaloniki, has been raising sheep of the historic local Rumluki breed for decades. These are the last purebred Rumluki sheep remaining in the region.
